Spine chilling ghost stories and mysterious paranormal events always have an eerie appeal to them. They are both interesting and scary at the same time. There are places that echo with this strange energy and our country is no exception. India is a land of mysteries. It is a land of beauty and vast culture. There are places in India that reflect the splendid heritage and culture of the country. However, there are several places in the country that have a dark mysterious past and a very few dare to venture out to these dreaded areas. Know for their paranormal activities and dark past, here are a few locations in India that will send shivers down your spine.
1. Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan

Constructed in the 17th century by Bhanwant Das for his younger son Madho Singh 1, the now ruined Bhangarh Fort is located in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It also lies adjacent to the Sariska Tiger Reserve and is off-limits post-sunset. Legend has it that a black magician fell in love with a beautiful Bhangarh princess. One day the wizard followed her to a marketplace and offered her a love potion, however the princess refused it, throwing it onto a large boulder that consequently rolled onto the wizard and crushed him to death. The wizard cursed the town before his death which led to the destruction of the town. Visitors have reported an unusual vibe that can only be felt but not expressed. There have been reports of ghostly voices being heard from within the fort. Locals also believe that whoever has entered the fort in the dark has never been found again.
2. Dumas Beach, Surat, Gujarat

One of the famous tourist attractions in Surat, this beach is visited by hordes of sea-loving travelers and tourists every day but once it gets dark, people leave the beach for the better good. It is believed that the beach was used as a Hindu burial ground for long and hence is home to many lost and tortured souls. People have reported hearing whispers of other people talking and sudden outbursts of ghostly laughs when they were alone on the beach. Many tourists have also mysteriously gone missing. Locals also say that they have witnessed ghostly apparitions and moving orbs along with other phenomena that cannot be rationally explained.

Although Ramoji Film City is considered one of the largest film city in the world, it also has been known to be haunted for a long time. It is believed that ghosts of dead soldiers haunt the film city because the site where the film city is built was formerly a war zone of the Nizams of Hyderabad. There have been instances where actors have reported seeing strange figures in the mirrors of their hotel rooms while getting ready for a shoot. Many female visitors have also reported being touched by invisible forces. There have been instances where the girl's bathroom has been incessantly knocked at even without anyone being there. 'Spooky' is the right word to describe this place at times.

Being one of the oldest hospitals(Almost 120 years old) in the IT Hub called Bengaluru, this hospital has a notorious reputation for being haunted by a 'FOODIE' ghost. Why foodie? because this ghost apparently steals food from people who visit the hospital. There have been reports of food mysteriously disappearing. Many patients and visitors have reported seeing a ghostly apparition lurking near the morgue and around a particular tree in the compound of the hospital. If you plan to make a trip to this hospital, I suggest you keep your food safe and then of course yourself.
5. Charleville Mansion, Shimla

Charleville Mansion is a century-old abandoned castle that is located in Shimla. Built in the British era this mansion is considered to be the most haunted place in Shimla. Locals believe that this mansion is haunted by a poltergeist (poltergeists are considered to be noisy or mischevious spirits). The authenticity of the mystery surrounding the house was in fact tested by a British officer and his wife back in 1913. The story goes that when the couple locked the room where the activity was the strongest, they heard loud crashing noises the following night. When the couple opened the doors to check, they found the entire room in a state of disarray. Everything in the room had been turned upside down; as if a storm had just passed through the room. Shocked with the experience the couple decided to leave the mansion and it has remained deserted ever since, thanks to the invisible source of mischief.
